BEGINNERS' COURSE
we endeavour to give you the best possible start in your new life as a golf player and we don't hesitate promising you that you will not be disappointed. In fact, you have chosen the most well groomed course in Northern Jutland with practice facilities which are really optimal for beginners. We have both a par-3 course and a Pay & Play course, where you can practice and prepare yourself for the "big" golf course.
Trial membership
As a new member, you begin by subscribing to a trial membership. During the course of your two months as a trial member, you will receive a thorough introduction to the game of golf. In other words, you have two months to find out that golf is your game.
Introduction
The introduction comprises 6 hours with one of our professionals. During th course of these lessons you will be introduced to the various golf shots you will need when you start playing on a golf course. You will also be invited to participate in classes of rules and theory, where you will be introduced to the rules of the game but also the particular etiquette which characterizes the game of golf.
Rabbit matches
When you have passed a test of your ability to hit shots and to put, as well as a test on the Par-3 course, you are ready to participate in the beginners' matches, the so called rabbit matches. The matches are played on Tuesdays at 6 P.M. In order to obtain a Course Permit and a handicap of 54, you need to play four rabbit matches.
You can participate in the rabbit matches until you have obtained the handicap of 36, and it really is a good idea to play them, because they give you an opportunity to get acquainted with other players as well as to continue the introduction to the game of golf at a calm pace.
Practice on your own
It is important that you as a beginner spend time to practice on your own between the lessons with the professionals. A golf swing is a movement, which needs to be trained, which means that the same movement has to be repeated over and over again.
As a trial member of Blokhus Golfklub you have access to all the training facilities of Blokhus Golfcenter: the driving range, the putting greens, the approach green, the Par-3 Course and the Pay & Play Course. However, you are only eligible to play on the 18-hole course, when you have become a full member.
Common lessons for beginners
You are also able to participate in Topical lessons for beginners - most Tuesdays at 5 P.M. and Saturdays at 3 P.M. - until you have a handicap of 36. Participation in the Topical lessons for beginners and the rabbit matches in the Club House.
